The Black Isle
Ask around many agree that the Black Isle is a wonderful place to live, raise a family, retire or spend some quality time.
The main settlements of the Black Isle such as Avoch, Fortrose and Rosemarkie are less than 10 to 15 minutes from the A9. In around 20 minutes, you have Inverness with rail links to the rest of the U.K. In about half an hour, you can be in Inverness Airport, which has direct flights to other parts of the UK, including London.
But why go further a field when the Black Isle has many attractions and interests to offer?
Recreationally, you couldn't have more choice. There is a golf course in Fortrose used by Fortrose & Rosemarke Golf Club designed by celebrated course architect James Braid. Sailing and mooring from Avoch and Fortrose, a family beach in Rosemarkie, woodland and historical walks at every turn including Bridleways and Rosehaugh Estate for dog walking, horse riding. Every country sport is catered for on the Black Isle.
For the younger family members there is quad biking, a downhill mountain biking course, sea canoeing, and the amenities surrounding and within the Black Isle leisure centre to exhaust the body.

For Schooling and pre-shool, Avoch Primary, Pre-school and Nursey has both excellent facilities and friendly and helpful staff. For older Children Fortrose Academy is regarded as one of the best secondary schools in Scotland and a constant top five school for Higher and Standard Grade results.

If food warms your soul the Black isle is rich in farming and its produce gives a plethora of choice of restaurants including traditional country house cuisine, family run public houses to award winning establishments.
